Learning Blue Magic on HorizonXI
Set BLU as your main job, then defeat a monster that used a learnable ability. A few things worth knowing:
Learning rules
You can't learn a spell if your Blue Magic skill is more than 31 below the spell's BLU level (its BLU level equals the skill cap at that level).
After Lv 50 skill gains jump from +3 to +5 per level, so the learnable window narrows from about 10 levels to about 6. Practically, Magic Fruit (58) isn't learnable until your skill is capped at 52, Dimensional Death until capped at 54, and so on.
Magus Jubbah (Lv 58, +15 BLU skill) widens the capped window from ~6 to ~9 levels; Magus Bazubands (Lv 56) further raise learning chance.
You don't need to be targeted by the ability, or even close enough to see the log line. You just can't be KO'd when the mob dies.
Learnable from Too Weak mobs, mobs that give no XP (some NMs/BCNM), Besieged (a party/alliance member lands the kill), and even after Call for Help. Azure Lore does not help.
Feeding TP so the mob uses its move
Below 25% HP a mob uses TP the instant it hits 100%; above that it's random.
Bludgeon gives the mob ~30% TP on a full hit — great for pushing it to 25% and a ready TP move. Dia feeds ~10% TP with minimal damage. Going unarmed (or avoiding H2H-skilled subs) keeps you from overkilling Too Weak targets.
Job-trait points (the Pts# column)
Each set spell contributes that many points toward its job trait. Stack spells of the same trait until you reach the threshold (typically 8) to activate it — e.g. two Accuracy Bonus spells at 4 each = 8. Auto Refresh activates once its spells' points sum to 8+.
Retail → HorizonXI changes (hover a spell name with a ◆ for its change)
Spells that HorizonXI altered from retail show a dashed underline and a ◆ marker. Hover the name for a tooltip listing what changed — learn level, set points, job trait, or set bonuses. Use the Era+ toggle to show only changed spells. A few highlights:
Change data is derived from a HorizonXI datamine (game Update 18) compared against retail (Asura) values. Learn-level and set-point deltas are retail→Horizon; trait/set-bonus deltas come from the datamine's own before/after. Verify against the LSB source before relying on it.
